National rally series conclude
MARCUS Dodd secured his second consecutive national rally championship crown last weekend, with victory at the final round of the series, the Bulldog Rally. Driving a new Prodrive Subaru Impreza P2000 WRC, Dodd’s main rival for the championship, Group A Impreza driver David Mann, retired on stage two after his car left the road and got stuck in a ditch. Dodd therefore just had to finish in the top four to win the series.
“A perfect result,” he said. “This event, and indeed the whole season, has been a team effort.”
Stephen Finlay, in an Impreza, finished second and Austin McHale’s Toyota Corolla WRC was third.
